Father (2020)

At least once a week, my family would gather for dinner, and my parents would always share a bottle of wine. During these moments, they would tell me stories about the world—stories that were sometimes difficult for me to understand. When I think of these family gatherings, the first things that come to mind are the wine bottles and glasses. The bottle placed in front of me symbolizes the stories I heard. I captured the quiet atmosphere, the food, and the relaxed ambiance in this piece. The hands placing the bottle before me represent my father passing down his words. Now that I am an adult and share fewer meals with my family, I created this piece out of a desire to continue sharing stories with them.
